Jeff Cook

Born in Fort Payne, Alabama, Jeff has been playing lead guitar and keyboard since the age of thirteen. Securing a broadcast license three days after his fourteenth birthday, Jeff went to work as Host and DJ of The Jeff Cook Experience at a local radio station. The “broadcast bug” got into Jeff’s blood and later resulted in owning a radio station and TV stations. In addition to his rich vocals, Jeff Cook, the “Mr. Musician” who served as Vocals, Lead Guitar, and Fiddle for the group Alabama, has just about done it all. Alabama signed a recording contract with RCA records on April 21st 1980, launching a career that to date has resulted in 21 gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums, 43 number one singles, and more than 78 million records sold! Alabama has received over 150 industry awards including Eight (8) Country Music Association honors for “Entertainer of the Year” and 2 Grammy awards, 2 People’s Choice Awards and their very own star on the Walk of Fame. They were named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music in 1989 and Country Group of the Century by the RIAA(Recording Industry Association of America in 1999. In November of 2005, Jeff and his band mates received Country Music’s highest honor, being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Alabama is one of the 20 best-selling acts of all time. In the U.S. alone, they have sold more albums than Elvis and The Beatles combined. In 2001, Jeff received the Orville H. Gibson Award as Guitarist of the Year by the Gibson Guitar Company. Now, with the Allstar Goodtime Band (AGB) and a rejuvenated enthusiasm for performing, Jeff is back on stage again, singing some of his 25 years of hits plus his own special blend of “Country, Soul, & Rock ‘n’ Roll. Jeff plays and electrifying lead guitar, and all those ”hot licks” on the fiddle you hear are Jeff. Between the guitar and fiddle, you would think Jeff stays pretty busy. Well, “Mr. Energy” also plays keyboards, bass, mandolin and drums and is currently touring again with ALABAMA.

A Letter from Jeff Cook
As you know, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.  This disease robs you of your coordination, your balance, and causes tremors.   I also note that not every case is the same and affects people in different ways.   For me, this has made it extremely frustrating to play guitar, fiddle, or sing. I have tried not to burden anyone with the details of my condition because I do not want the music to stop or the party to end and that won't change, no matter what.
Let me say, I'm not calling it quits, but sometimes our bodies dictate what we have to do and mine is telling me it's time to take a break and heal.  I do believe in prayer, and I appreciate all the continued prayers through this difficult time.
I love these guys (Randy and Teddy) and I love everyone involved with the group ALABAMA, and especially our fans. I want our fans and everyone involved to know that I do support all the decisions made by Randy and Teddy, as they continue to support mine.
I do plan to be at some of the shows and events when possible, and I hope to see you there.
Just remember, life is good and as long as you're breathing...there's 'No Bad Days  - Jeff Cook
